Building by Faith can feel irresponsible

Dear Path Finder,

I pray you find your purposeful path, walk audaciously in it, and inspire others to find theirs too.

After sharing the Kingdom legacy we are building in my previous article, I found myself reflecting on a prophetic word spoken over me by my mother in the faith. She once said, “Destiny helpers are waiting for you on the other side of obedience.”

I am now sitting in the quiet awe of watching that word come alive. People are reaching out, offering help, support, wisdom and even their time freely. And I am reminded again that obedience always makes room for provision.

In my excitement last week, I forgot to share the links to the platforms connected to the Oyena Dyasi Group. If you are on LinkedIn and would like to stay updated on our services, job opportunities and upcoming initiatives, you are welcome to follow us here:

All these platforms are still unfolding, still imperfect, still becoming. And as we often say on this path, we do life together in real time.

My heart for today’s article is simple. I want to reassure you of this truth: you are not careless for choosing faith, even when everything in front of you screams impossibility and offers no visible assurance.

Faith in God is one of the greatest currencies we are given in this life. It is the currency that purchases what logic cannot explain. The currency that reaches into the far-fetched, the complex, the unseen and the seemingly unreasonable.

Lately, I have been sitting with the Lord, asking Him why trusting Him so fully sometimes makes me uncomfortable. His response was gentle but firm. He said, “You love to plan. You love to understand every step and every outcome. Faith requires you to surrender the desire to control. And when you release control, it can feel like carelessness.”

And He was right.

Sometimes faith feels like you are passing responsibility.
Sometimes it feels like laziness.
Sometimes it feels like recklessness.
Sometimes it feels like denial of your current reality.
Sometimes it feels like you are being too spiritual for the situation you are in.

But faith was never designed to make us careless. It was designed to remind us of two fundamental truths. First, that God is sovereign and holds all things together. Second, that we were never meant to live burdened by anxiety, fear and constant striving.

A life of faith invites us into rest instead of anxious hustling. It teaches us to live confidently in God rather than in circumstances or people. It allows us to experience peace and joy regardless of outcomes. It positions us to witness God’s signs and wonders that our limited understanding could never manufacture.

Most importantly, faith is the vehicle through which we cultivate a personal and intimate relationship with God.

Scripture also reminds us that faith is never idle. Faith is always accompanied by movement. By obedience. By action. This truth dismantles the lie that faith equals passivity. We do not sit still in faith. We move, but we move without panic. We plan, but without fear. We build, but without striving for control.

My prayer is that this short reflection begins a gentle conversation in your heart. One that helps you untangle the tension between trusting God and needing to control everything.

In the next article, we will explore another layer of this journey: developing a healthy mindset for doing big things, and what it means to be chosen as the one who must do them.

Path Finder, we are constantly unlearning and relearning. What we allow to take permanent residence in our minds will ultimately govern our thoughts, actions and decisions. Though our journeys are unique, we must walk them holistically and fruitfully.

Preparations for travelling across Africa early next year are underway. I would love to invite both South Africans and those based elsewhere on the continent to express interest in partnering with us or hosting us when we visit your country.
